Divine Mercy Message to Parishioners St. Augustine of Canterbury Parish
Dear members of St. Augustine of Canterbury Parish,
April 19, 2020 is this year’s Divine Mercy Sunday. You might have picked up some
devotion (novena for nine days, triduum for three days, one day Divine Mercy rosary, or
any other special prayer) to celebrate the Divine Mercy in order to pray for the
“atonement for personal sins and those of the whole world.”
You are encouraged to pray the following form of the Divine Mercy Chaplet:
Eternal Father:
“Eternal Father, I offer you the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your Dearly
Beloved Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole
world” (once)
For the sake of his sorrowful Passion:
“For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world” (ten
times)
Holy God:
“Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole
world” (three times).
Purpose of the Divine Mercy Prayer and Devotion:
This devotion is an invitation to be part of the merciful love of God and to request his
mercy for the whole world, as St. Pope John Paul II encouraged us to do, in particular
every second Sunday of Easter. You can pray the whole Divine Mercy Chaplet (five
times of the above prayers).
By your prayers and devotions with regard to the Divine Mercy Sunday 2020, may the
Lord, God, reconcile the world and the universe through the risen Christ.
Fr. Paul, St Augustine of Canterbury Parish.
